(HIGHER END LANE, BACKSANDS LANE AND TAYLORS LANE, PILLING, WYRE BOROUGH)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1.No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over that length of
i.Higher End Lane from outside Golden Ball Hotel to its junction with Taylors Lane.
ii.Backsands Lane from its junction with Taylors Lane for 50 metres in a north westerly direction.
iii.Taylors Lane from its junction with Higher End Lane to outside Broadfleet Cottage.

2.Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3.The prohibition will be operative from 2100 hours on Monday 5th October 2026 until 0600 hours on Tuesday 6th October 2026 or until completion of the works within this period. Access for emergency services will be maintained.
4.Vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5.An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:-
Backsands Lane – Lancaster Road – Head Dyke Lane – Lambs Lane – Hooles Lane – Smallwood Hey Road – School Lane and vice versa.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow cable recovery and gully clearance works to be carried out by BT.
